Friday at Bluesfest

OK - I didn’t make it to day one.

So here are some of the highlights from my first day at #Bluesfest Byron Bay.

First up - plan how the day will pan out

If that dosen’t work - do a crossword

get a good seat

and make sure you get a good view

well then get closer

to see C W Stoneking - very droll

Bob Abbot with the Green Machine

Lisa Hunt chanelling Aretha Franklin

Ilona Harker in the busking competition

some of her fans

fun for the kids

boy - mud - fun

a shrine to the mud (I’ll check back on this)

Bluesfest essentials - chair and gumboots

plenty of causes to promote

Lunch - thanks to the happy Krishnas

Big camera - young girl

modern light next to 70s model Strand 743 (can’t kill a good light)

Such a mess after each act is finished ….

… that is cleared in no time by a swarm of picker-uppers

dinner options

fabulous street parade

wouldn’t want that one to crap on you

and the night time parade

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue

… are currently one of my favourites

Shorty holds a note for what seems like five minutes

Jack Thompson and the Original Sinners

The Dingoes

in the photographers pit for …

Fistful of Mercy

Fistful of Mercy

meanwhile in the ABC interview studio

then back for Blind Boys of Alabama

Blind Boys of Alabama

Leba Hibbert (Toot’s daughter) opened for the Maytals

Toots however was not having a good night

then the legend that is B B King - I’ll close with a few pix of one of my all time favourites

and his awsome band
